Population Growth

The total population of the Boise Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) according to U.S. Census Bureau released September 22, 2005 was estimated at 511,000. This figure includes both Ada and Canyon County.

The (MSA) ranked as the seventh-fastest-growing of the nation’s 280 metropolitan areas during the 1990’s. Ada and Canyon counties grew by 9.9% from 2000 to 2003. If this rate of growth continues the MSA could grow to over 1,000,000 by the year 2027.

Housing
At the end of the second quarter of 2005 (June 30th) the median home price in Ada County was $213,848 and Canyon County had a median price of $132,044. Average days on market for properties closed in January were listed at 86 days on market for Ada County and 92 days on market for Canyon County.

Employment
Idaho continues to create and maintain a stable and growing employment base. The first quarter of 2005 Idaho ranked (6th) in job growth in the U.S. up 3% over 2004 in the same period. Idaho is home to several large Corporations including:

Micron Technology 11,000 Idaho Employees
Albertson’s, Inc. 6,968 Idaho Employees
Hewlett Packard 3,500 Idaho Employees
J.R. Simplot Co. 3,400 Idaho Employees

Several Call Centers have relocated to the Boise Valley including Citi Cards, T-Mobile, Direct TV and EDS.



Quality of Life
Quality of life is considered one of our greatest assets in Boise. And it has been attested to time and again in several national publications. The 1999 cover of Newsweek touted Boise as one of the hottest Tech Cities. Forbes Magazine ranked Boise #7 for best place to start a business and Boise is ranked as the #2 Biking City in the United States. And the favorable comments and national articles continue to put our market in the spotlight creating an insurgence of growth from families looking for quality of life, low housing costs and diverse employment opportunities.

Summary
